Raising standards

The Haringey Quality Review Panel (QRP) brings together a team of independent professionals from a range of backgrounds to scrutinise all major development proposals in the borough. Rachael was a member from 2022 - 2024.

Rachael was part of the advisory group for Habinteg Housing Association’s 2010 review of the Lifetime Homes standards for the Department for Communities and Local Government and served as an ‘expert’ on the drafting panel for BS 9266, Design of Accessible and Adaptable General Needs Housing - Code of Practice, a British Standard about accessible homes that was published in 2013.

Rachael co-authored the GLA Best Practice Guidance on Wheelchair Accessible Housing (2007) with David Bonnett, Sabrina Aaronovitch and a steering group.

Wheelchair Accessible Housing (London Plan Best Practice Guidance, Greater London Authority, September 2007).
The purpose of the guide is to clarify which of the requirements of the Wheelchair Housing Design Guide should be incorporated into the design of homes identified as wheelchair accessible at planning application stage.
